Local Spotlight: Styled by Shamir- An Atlanta Hair Stylist

Shamir Wallace, professionally known as Shamir Styles is a 28-year-old Hair Stylist born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Having moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2011 to attend Morehouse College he withdrew from school after sophomore year and followed a longtime passion—hair.

Wallace grew up in Philadelphia watching his father cut hair as he owned his own barbershop and beauty salon. As an adolescent, Shamir peaked interest in women’s hair and began to take up the hobby of cutting and doing hair for family members and anyone that would let him. Now, ten years later as an Atlanta resident and established Hair Stylist he does hair full time at Salon Moraee in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.

“My passion in the haircare industry is ensuring that my clients have proper and healthy hair,” he says. In addition to maintaining his client’s healthy hair Shamir has a love for wig making. Six years ago, Shamir taught himself how to make a wig by hand, and from there later learned how to use a sowing machine to make a wig.

When the deadly COVD-19 Pandemic hit, he took advantage of the time to help create a hair oil named Drip by Shamir. This hair oil is a versatile oil that can be used on men or women’s hair and is the first of several products Shamir plans to create under his hair product line ‘Drip by Shamir.’ In addition, because of his passion for wig making Shamir creates custom wigs and has established his own line of wigs named ‘The Shamir Styles Collection.’
